That aside, it is my opinion that if your doing it all yourself and are happy to carry out general maintenance tasks and upates, most standard non complicated websites can be run for between £5 and £12 per month. This can often included your email and Domain Name
NHS Trust / Consultant / Medical / Dental & LDC Websites
Important Notice: Tentacle Web Design maintain, host and support a number of consultant, medical, dental and LDC (Local Dental Committee) websites. You must send at least one email from your NHS email address, so that I known your a NHS employee. GMC and GDC numbers are also accepted, if I can authenticate who you are and you are being referred by an existing client, costs for these websites are set as follows:
Normally Fixed Fee Individual Consultant with Secretary:
£15 Monthly Costs + £1 per month for the Domain Name Hosting (Assuming it’s a UK Domain Name). This cost includes unlimited updates (Within reason – read below) and does not include email. Payment may be made payable via any type of standing order or direct debit, that the client is happy tp set up and that may be cancelled without notice at no costs, if paid monthly. Payment must be made before the 01st of every month, if paying monthly. If not paid, the Domain Name & Hosting will be off-line and the re-commissioning fee (Bringing the name and content back online and assuming the Domain Name is still available and not taken up by someone else) is £150
Normally Fixed Fee Medical / Dental Organisation or a Team of Consultants
£20 Monthly Cost. This cost includes unlimited updates (Within reason) and does not include email or scripted pages, such as forms for clients to build and send back to you.
£25 Monthly Cost. This costs includes unlimited updates (Within reason) and may also include items such as a scripted page, such as forms. This does not include email mailboxes, but can include email forwarding.
£25 to £35 per month option (+£50) – Organisations that require a PO Notes
This plan allows what is know as “updates within reason” Please read further below for more information in this area. It includes new and additional pages and a recent news feed area. It does not include email. Please discuss your requirements to confirm the price band.
Purchase Order Information
Organisations that require a purchase order to be raised are charged monthly between £25 to £35, depending on the website and required updates. There is also an additional charge of £50 added to the invoice for time required in communicating with the accounts and purchase order team to chase up the status of the purchase order and then having to chase for payment to be made within a suitable time frame.
Note: If payment is not received within three months of the invoice being sent, Tentacle Web Design have the right to charge an additional fee to cover costs in further communication in obtaining payment afte the purchase order has been received and invoice sent.
This pricing model is aimed at a group, team or small organisation that require me to have an account with the organisation and a purchase order to be raised. Costs are increased to cover time and effort made in obtaining payment for services provided.
Although website update requests are carried out promptly, they can take up to 10 working days infrequently and at busy times and annual leave. Client responses to email and telephone will be acknowledged as quickly as possible.
NHS Trust’s and Procurement Teams
From 2024, due to payment problems with NHS Trusts and the Procurement Teams, which include the purchase order taking more than 3 months to receive, payments not being made for more than 7 months and the need to compose many emails that go unanswered asking when payment might be made, Tentacle Web Design have a starting price of £500 for these websites. If you are a Consultant or you run a Department that relies on NHS money, please consider paying for the website yourself and attempt to obtain the money back from the Procurement Team. If using NHS for payment, the first year must be paid for in advance, before I can work and build a website for you and or your team.
Non medical; dental or organisation costs (used for guidance)

I encourage individuals to use an email provider such as GMail or Outlook services for reasons not mentioned in this comment (But based around 2FA technology; free services and transferring to a new provider with ease, should the need arise). That aside, if an email address is required for your Domain Name, the costs are:
£5 Email Option per month (Excludes Hosting the Domain Name – see costs above)
Email accounts are out of plan. Email accounts can be provided at a cost of £5 and they are also limited in mailbox size to 10gb. However, if you encounter email issues on your device, costs are charged for Tentacle Web Design time helping you identify the issue. Tentacle Web Design encourage you to use something like a Gmail, Outlook, Hotmail account. Other Forwarding alternatives are also available. A minimal amount of £30 is charged per email issue. Please discuss this area further if you would like to use your own domain for email services.
Email provided by Tentacle Web Design can not be used or inserted into a third party system or automatically generated email systems to automatically send many emails at once to many people.
Tentacle Web Design can not help if your email has been stopped as a result of it looking like a spam email.
Although problems with email will take a high priority, calls for help can take up to 10 working days infrequently and at busy times and annual leave. Client responses to email and telephone will be acknowledged as quickly as possible.

Event Calendar

Calendars can be implemented free of charge. However, if Tentacle Web Design need to update them (The Events Calendar), depending on how many updates are required, costs may be incurred.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
General SEO services is often include free of charge in the costs as work in this area is around the Domain Name and initial content added to the pages.
That mentioned, it is the opinion of Tentacle Web Design that nobody can guarantee a person or business being high up on a search engine. There are simply too many factors to take into concideration that may also require daily updates of the website, which may come at a cost.
If you offer services with relevant content that is updated often, in theory, your website should reach the first page of Google. This may also require News Posts on a frequent basis from you. Please do not expect your web developer to automatically carry this task out for you,unless you expect to pay them a substantial amount of money that may be on a monthly basis. Site Template and Wording
Templates built and images used are licensed under Tentacle Web Design. Should you use a new provider in the future, templates built and images provided by Tentacle Web Design are not transferable. In most cases new providers prefer to use their own coding and photos for new clients and Developers seldom want to take on or manage other developers coding, so this should not cause you a problem.
If you own a Domain and a site template and are trying to reduce your costs, please discuss your requirements to see if support and hosting can be provided.
If you own a Domain and are using a free site template, from what you may deem a cheap supplier, such as those advertised on television, these are normally not transferable as the template remains copyrighted to your existing supplier, so it is likely a new template will need to be built.
To aid in building the template, information from clients should include: word content for areas such as Home; About, Services and any other pages the client requires. If the client can not provide photos, then stock photos can be used and there may be a cost associated to these. If the client is not able to provide wording, AI generated wording can be used. AI wording may also be used on other templates Tentacle Web Design provide to other clients.
Stock Photo Images are normally purchase and sourced from PhotoDune.net, 123RF.com, CanStockPhoto.com and in some cases WikiCommons
If you require a website to allow someone else to maintain it for you, or you would like to own the template yourself, please discuss your requirements in this area as there are different costs for this work and work is charged by the hour and starts at £750
Notes: Membership / Login Sites are no longer built by Tentacle Web Design, as they take continuous time to maintain in areas where people do not use them for long periods of time and then forget there passwords, or have have issues with their personal deceives, rather than the website, which is not covered in the costs. Website security also needs to be reduced, leaving the website more exposed and vulnerable to hackers and malicious code insertion.
Template and Site build up costs (Updated March 2025)
Please discuss your requirements in this area. From March 2025, template build up costs remain free of charge, as templates remain the property of Tentacle Web Design and are not transferable to a new supplier. Transferring to a new supplier simply requires the supplier to copy and paste the word content from a Tentacle Web Designs template over to a new template your new supplier will build and provide for you.
If you own a website, copy and pasting your current site page words by Tentacle Web Design and onto a template Tentacle Web Design builds for you costs £5 per page (Normally with a maximum charge of £250). This cost is a token amount to carry out the copy and pasting work and onto a new template. This is payable up-front.
If Tentacle Web Design build pages with AI generated words, you are welcome to transfer these words if you use a new provider. However, Tentacle Web Design would ask that you do copyright protect these words with your new supplier, as words used when using Tentacle Web Design may be used on other templates Tentacle Web Design uses for other clients. If you believe this may cause a problem in the future, simply send Tentacle Web Design words you would like to use, that can be copyright protected to you or your organisation, as you have created and sent the words you would like to use.
Copy and pasting or AI generated words Tentacle Web Design use is also payable up-front and normally comes with a a cost of between £192 and £250. In a number of circumstances, this cost normally includes one years hosting; maintenance, support and updates. However, please confirm this information as your requirements may be different to others.
E-Commerce
Due to the new GDPR that came into force on 25th May 2018, Tentacle Web Design no longer host E-Commerce solutions. However, if you have an existing shop and have issues in this area and require assistance, please discuss your requirements or problems to see if Tentacle Web Design are able to aid you in resolving any problems or recommendations.
Website Update Requests & Within Reason Statement
Although updates are carried out promptly, they can take up to 10 working days infrequently and at busy times and annual leave.

Where monthly updates within reason(1) are carried out within the plan, Tentacle Web Design endeavour to carry out these updates within a 10 working day period. Urgent updates can be carried out sooner upon agreement and request.

(1) For further clarification of the “within reason” statement above, please discuss your requirements with Tentacle Web Design and I will advise accordingly.
To aid further in this statement, (1) Updates within reason, assumes that I can complete the work required within a time frame that I deem acceptable for the monthly support plan and yearly payment. Frequent, major and weekly page updates would not be covered in this plan and would require further discussion. Plans that include new pages to be built and added may be limited. An example may be requesting several new pages be added in one month. This would not be covered in the plan and would also require further discussion. Scripted / multi choice / questionnaire type pages are also not covered in this cost.

Word & Content Management
It is the responsibility of the client to check and review the wording used on the site prior to and after Tentacle Web Design has made any changes to the site. Tentacle Web Design can not be held responsible for content wording on the site.
Tentacle Web Design only works directly with the client and is not able to work with clients third parties or other organisations for website updates.
Advance Payment
After the first year and invoice , payment can be made either via monthly bank transfer, or in advance via 6 or 12 month options. For monthly automatic client bank transfers, invoices are raised on or around 05th April each year and the invoice reflects a monthly payment plan. If you organisation need to go straight onto a monthly payment option prior to the first years invoice, please discuss this with Tentacle Web Design.
UK .co.uk and .org.uk Domain extensions costs £1 per month to host and support and 1yr needs to be paid for in advance. Other Domain Name Extensions (.COM; .ORG; .INFO for example) are different and also have a yearly ongoing cost associated with them. Domain Name transfers may also have a token Administration charge associated with them.
The invoice for the Domain Name, Hosting and Build Up work is normally raised no more than 4 weeks from when the Domain Name is purchased. For transfers to a new provider, the time remaining on the Domain Name will not reflect the invoice date as this will be dependent on when the Domain was first registered which.
IPS Tag Update / Domain Name Transfer to New Suppliers
From January 2019, If you own your Domain Name, transfers can be carried out to new suppliers / reseller for between £12 and £24, per UK Domain Name, depending on when the Domain Name was renewed, which needs to be paid prior to the IPS Tag update / transfer being carried out. Please note that a “.com” Domain Name transfer costs up to £30 as these Domain Names reside in the US (Under a company called Verisign), so additional costs are required.
Please remember that templates and images provided by Tentacle Web Design are not transferable. Your new supplier should aid you with designing a new template and providing suitable stock images for your site.

Audit review work is carried out on an ad-hock basis depending on reports the site sends throughout the year. (NB: If Generic Users are created for additional course user access, this level of protection is reduced)
- End of year work is completed on all domains to take the new year into consideration.
- End of year broken link reviews work is carried out to ensure any external links you may. be pointing to still exists (This aids with SEO and Indexing services).
